How are you connected to Suncoast Hospice and Suncoast Solutions?

The Suncoast Institute was officially established in 1994 as an affiliate organization of the Suncoast Hospice. The Suncoast Institute is a not-for-profit, practice-based education, consultation and research center offering resources for all hospice and palliative care organizations nationally and internationally. Suncoast Solutions is the leader in Hospice, Palliative Care and End-of-Life software and is also an affiliate of The Suncoast Hospice. What is a consultation?

Consultations are simply discussions with our team members about issues affecting your hospice organization or programs. You can call us any time for a free 15 minute phone consultation to take advantage of our resources and expertise. With over 30 years of practice-based experience and an extremely impressive track record, we can help you find solutions and accomplish your goals.

What subjects can I cover in a consultation?

While our purposes are similar and the questions are often the same, no two consulting conversations are alike. There are no relevant questions that can't be asked in a conversation and in most cases, we can answer your questions in short order on the phone or by email. In fact, we can probably provide most information or assistance you require within hours. Not sure about a topic? Just give us a call.

How do consultations work?

Consultations typically begin with scheduled phone conversations, usually with email follow up. Depending on the support required, consultations may involve a meeting at The Institute, or our experts may pay a visit to your facility. What staff members participate in these consultations?

We favor a multi-disciplinary approach in these exchanges. We offer consultation in all disciplines, clinical, organizational and leadership areas. We strongly encourage participation by all levels of our team, to provide you with the most accurate comprehensive information. We recommend participation by all levels of your team as well to optimize the learning experience and encourage a teamwork-focused system.

How do I schedule a Consultation or Training?

What types of Educational courses do you offer?

With over 30 years of training experiences, we can provide a variety of trainings for clinical, support, and leadership audiences. Check out our Training Schedule for a list of current national trainings or call us for customized trainings to meet your specific needs. This year we have added a comprehensive webinar training schedule and will be launching our online learning system in Fall 2009.

How long are the classes?

Classes range from an hour to a week, depending on the course and information involved.

Who should participate in the training?

Each class is different and geared for different audiences. You'll find more information under class descriptions that can help you determine who in your organization will benefit most from the specific courses.

What does the training cost?

Classes vary in price. We'll be happy to provide you prices for specific classes or programs over the phone or via email.

How often do you add new classes?

We are constantly adding new classes. As our knowledge base evolves, so does our course work. Please check our website frequently for updates or just give us a call or drop us an email.

Do your classes qualify for required continuing education?

The Suncoast Hospice is an approved provider of contact hours for various disciplines. Each course that meets the continuing education requirements offer contact hours.

Do you offer "Train the Trainer" programs?

Yes, we offer multiple programs to help you integrate our programs into the learning experience at your hospice organization. We can arrange for facilitation training with a simple consultation.

Is the Suncoast Institute affiliated with any universities or colleges?

Does the Institute partner in providing educational programs?
