Suncoast Institute, an affiliate of Suncoast Hospice (formerly
The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast), was officially founded in
1994 as an international resource center which offers education and
training sessions, conducts research and provides consultation
services related to hospice and palliative care. The mission of the
practice-based resource center remains firmly focused on making a
difference in the lives of hospice staff and volunteers which
positively impact patients and families facing an end-of-life
experience.
Suncoast Institute:
- Provides training and consultation to Hospice organizations to
better manage their organizations to improve the quality and
integrity of hospice and palliative care nationally.
- Trains hospice leadership and management at state and national
conferences, through contract services and to individual hospices
on national and state levels.
- Offers experienced keynote speakers at state and national
conferences for the hospice industry, aging networks, health and
human service associations, media associations, and fundraising
associations.
- Packages evidence-based, best practices in end-of-life care
into manuals and CD's to make them widely available.
- Develops and nationally disseminates model programs to increase
access to hospice care in various types of communities with special
focus on reaching diverse populations.
- Influences national standards for optimal quality of care and
service modules.
- Develops national models for academic integration of
palliative/hospice care into core curriculum of health and human
services professionals.
